Iceland grand tour taken place in  2011


Sunday June 12  2011-

Arrival and transfer from airport to short city sightseeing and familiarization with Reykjavik.

Check in and dinner at the Hotel

Monday 13 June -

Drive the Golden Circle Þingvellir Gullfoss Geysir and go the south shore to the town of Hvolsvöllur for an overnight..

 
Tuesday 14 June -

Depart 09.30 for the scenic drive  to the Skaftafell National Park with Europes largest glacier Vatnajökull on the left hand side all day and the highlight stop at the Jökulsár glacier lagoon. An unforgettable boat trip on the ice lagoon sailing between the icebergs.

Lunch en route.

Drive back to hotel  for buffet dinner and overnight.

 
 Wednesday 15 june -

Depart 09.00 Leave the area and drive southwestern to th hotel north of Borgarnes.

Thursday 16 june -

Depart 09.00 for the North.

Stops at scenic places enroute. Visit Blönduós town for lunch at Potturinn og Pannan restaurant

Take the valley route to Sauðarkrokur town and stop for afternoon cofee at Kaffi Krokur and see the dried fish areas where they hang up millions of cod filets to dry in the wind.

Visit Glaumbaer folk museum, see it from the outside as it is not very wheelchair friendly.

Proceed up the Skagafjörd valleys and stop whenever scenic objects appear and it is possible to stop such as horses.

Arrive Akureyri at 18.00 for dinner and overnight.

Friday 17 june -

Enjoy the National Holiday festivities this day. The festivities wil add to the experiences today.

Depart for Husavik whale watching and lunch at hotel Husavik. Visit whale museum in the early afternoon and enjoy the town and views and back to Akureyri for dinner and overnight.

Saturday 18 June -

Depart 09.00 for he Godafoss waterfall, the Myvatn lake area. Scenic views over the mud pots and sulphur fields, rock formations, see the Krafla geothermal power plant etc and lunch buffet at the Sel hotel.

Return back to Akureyri for overnght in the late afternoon and dinner.  

Sunday 19 june -

Early breakfast and departure for Akureyri airport.  Fly to Reykjavik.

Arrival at Reykjavik airport  and the apecial bus is waiting for us there.

Visit National Museum then ZOO  and botanical garden,

Lunch in the City Center of Reykjavik .

Afternoon stroll for about two hours through the central areas of Reykjavik and visit to the Flea Market facility.

Check in at th hotel for farewell dinner and overnight.

Monday 20 June -

Departure for Keflavik airport.
